The Project Commissioning Engineer plays a critical role in the successful startup and commissioning of renewable natural gas (RNG) plants, guiding projects from the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) phase through to full operational acceptance. As an essential technical leader, the Project Commissioning Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of the plant start-up process, ensuring that operational and technical requirements are met efficiently and in accordance with industry standards. This role involves direct coordination with both internal teams and external stakeholders, facilitating a seamless transition from project completion to ongoing operations.
With a focus on RNG and related gas processing technologies, the Project Commissioning Engineer provides expertise in plant controls, including individual skid and Balance of Plant (BoP) systems. The position requires leadership in overseeing engineers and technicians, delivering coaching and direction to elevate team performance and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets. The Project Commissioning Engineer is expected to demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, rapidly addressing technical issues in real time to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Project Commissioning Engineer - Summary
- Lead technical and project management efforts for RNG plant startups from SAT through full commissioning and operational acceptance.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all operational requirements are met on time and within budget.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete startup, commissioning, and operational acceptance process for RNG plants.
- Manage the integration and performance of plant systems, including control systems and supporting equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and support in the field, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, and vendors to align project objectives and schedules.
- Mentor and direct engineers and technicians to ensure optimal team performance and knowledge transfer.
- Document and report on project status, issues, and milestones for internal and customer-facing communication.
- Travel to project sites as needed, supporting commissioning activities and providing on-site leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 7-10 years of experience with RNG plants, landfill or biogas operations, or gas compression/separation equipment.
- Proven experience with RNG equipment design, manufacturing, testing, and full plant operations.
- Expert problem-solving abilities, with demonstrated success managing field issues in real-time.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD experience is a plus.
- Strong project management skills; PMP certification is beneficial.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 50%+), including multi-week site assignments.
- Excellent multitasking, organizational, and deadline management skills.
