Project Accountant – Construction Summary
The Project Accountant – Construction will be responsible for overseeing the financial processes related to construction projects, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and compliance with industry standards. This position involves working closely with accounting and project management professionals to facilitate seamless financial operations. The successful candidate will utilize their construction accounting background to manage multiple projects, prepare comprehensive financial analyses, and support overall organizational objectives. Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit construction draws for multiple construction projects, including the development of YTD budget files and variance analysis for each project.
- Compile and provide necessary documentation, contracts, and lien waivers for review by the Independent Engineer (IE).
- Respond promptly to inquiries from Corporate Finance and Accounting Departments, Accounting Manager, and Project Managers regarding all construction draw matters.
- Assist Project Managers with project completion forecasts and financial planning.
- Run month-end financial reports for both construction and development projects to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain contract logs for construction and development projects, ensuring all data is entered correctly into relevant systems.
- Input contracts into Purchasing and Project Accounting modules within Great Plains Accounting Software, maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
- Manage the posting of intercompany journal entries, track cash movements for book transfers, and facilitate wire requests as needed.
- Support corporate accountants with accruals and provide assistance during annual audits.
- Collaborate closely with Development and Construction Managers, providing payment statuses, project reports, and participating in project meetings to address financial inquiries.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in construction accounting or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Accounting designation (e.g., CPA) preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous experience with financial accounting systems highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks to deadline with minimal supervision.
- Resourceful, self-motivated, and adept at managing multiple projects independently.
