Project Accountant - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Review subcontractor applications, lien releases, and affidavits of suppliers for accuracy and compliance with billing requirements
- Notify subcontractors of any missing or non-compliant billing documentation
- Communicate and follow up with project managers and subcontractors throughout the payment process
- Process subcontract payments, ensuring all billing requirements are satisfied before release
- Manage and maintain electronic filing systems for subcontract documents
- Verify prevailing wage requirements for subcontractors when applicable
- Review subcontract agreements and change orders for accuracy; update accounting systems accordingly
- Process job cost transfers related to materials, equipment, and other project costs
- Compile invoices and supporting documentation for monthly owner substantiation
- Handle general accounting and administrative duties as assigned
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the accounting team and project objectives

Qualifications & Requirements
- Team-oriented approach, with experience working within a shared inbox system
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting administrative experience, preferably within the construction industry
- At least 1 year of accounts payable experience specific to construction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Familiarity with Sage accounting software (minimum 1 year experience)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail
