Production Designer
A Production Designer plays a crucial role in the creative and technical execution of marketing and communication materials for nonprofit organizations. This position is designed for individuals who excel in both the artistic and logistical aspects of design, ensuring all visual assets meet brand standards, campaign requirements, and organizational objectives. As a Production Designer, you will be immersed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, collaborating with creative teams, production specialists, and print partners to ensure the seamless transition of concepts into final deliverables. This role requires a blend of creative vision, technical proficiency, and strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to support ongoing marketing and communication initiatives.
The Production Designer is responsible for supporting the development and preparation of a wide range of design materials, from marketing collateral and publications to presentations and event signage. Working closely with creative leads and production teams, you will ensure all files are properly formatted, versioned, and prepared for print or digital distribution. Exceptional attention to detail and the capability to meet tight deadlines are essential, as you will often be tasked with responding to urgent requests while maintaining the highest quality standards.
In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Mac OS, and Microsoft Office applications to develop professional, brand-consistent designs. Your advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat will enable you to execute technical layouts, refine production files, and collaborate effectively with print vendors. A background in Graphic Design, Production Art, or related disciplines is required, along with at least four years of professional experience in production design or similar creative positions. Experience working with high-volume campaigns and large-scale deliverables is particularly valuable, as is familiarity with the end-to-end creative workflow from concept through final output.
Collaboration is key to the Production Designer role. You will partner with creative leads to brainstorm solutions, implement feedback, and uphold brand consistency across all deliverables. Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, you will help coordinate the production of materials for events, campaigns, and ongoing initiatives, ensuring deadlines and quality expectations are met. The ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands efficiently is critical, as you may be supporting multiple projects across different departments at any given time.
As a Production Designer, your contributions will directly impact the organization’s ability to communicate its mission, engage supporters, and achieve strategic goals. By delivering visually impactful materials, you help ensure the organization presents a cohesive and compelling brand image to its audience. If you are a detail-oriented design professional with a passion for creative production and thrive in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment, this role offers an exciting opportunity to further your career and make a meaningful impact.
