Process Piping Estimator - Summary
- Prepare and coordinate estimates for process piping and mechanical projects in commercial and industrial sectors.
- Engage with general contractors to identify and assess project opportunities aligned with company strategy.
- Utilize advanced estimating software and ensure consistent, reliable project cost analysis.
- Support business development, project execution, and ongoing relationship management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Business Development & Opportunity Assessment:
- Engage proactively with pre-construction departments of target general contractors to identify upcoming project opportunities.
- Evaluate project opportunities for strategic alignment, competitive advantages, and profit potential.
- Estimating & Project Preparation:
- Review drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and contracts to assess impacts on work scope.
- Use computer-based takeoff and estimating systems to produce reliable, consistent estimates.
- Coordinate scopes, drawings, and communication with other trades for comprehensive project understanding.
- Prepare RFIs, gather vendor and subcontractor pricing, and develop project recaps, schedules, and correspondence.
- Generate detailed reports to support bid review sessions with the Estimating Manager.
- Project Support & Tracking:
- Assist in pre-bid and project selling activities, including defining scope of supply, presentations, and negotiations.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to present project scope, work plan, budgets, and potential limitations.
- Monitor labor productivity units and track progress against project estimates.
- Attend regular staff meetings to review scope changes, production updates, and implement corrective measures as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience estimating industrial or commercial construction projects with a focus on high-purity process piping.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, or QuickPen.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
- Preferred experience in semiconductor or biopharmaceutical construction.
- Background in field work, piping trades, or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is desirable.
- Knowledge of related piping systems including plumbing and HVAC is a plus.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 15 pounds, read printed and digital materials, and access confined spaces or elevated areas as needed.
- Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and communicate in noisy environments.
