Process Engineer
ARC Group is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer for a full-time opportunity at a specialty rubber manufacturing company supplying components to Fortune 500 manufacturers and the Air Force in Hamburg, NJ. This Process Engineer role is central to driving process optimization, supporting both new product launches and ongoing production within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The position is ideal for individuals with a strong engineering background who are passionate about continuous improvement and problem-solving in manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead process development by establishing processing specifications and parameter records for new product introductions, ensuring compliance with internal and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality and Laboratory teams to verify new product performance and promptly address conditions impacting quality and productivity.
- Champion a "Safety First" culture by promoting and adhering to all safety protocols and supporting facility safety initiatives.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve issues affecting throughput, product quality, and delivery timelines.
- Support departmental training and engage team members in process and equipment operations.
- Troubleshoot process equipment, tools, molds, and raw materials to resolve root causes of inconsistencies or non-conformances, ensuring alignment with process documentation.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including labor standards and work instructions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and molding personnel.
- Initiate and implement technical solutions—such as statistical methodologies—to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
- Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to address machine and material issues, and recommend refurbishment based on production factors.
- Interact with customers to resolve issues and communicate project updates as needed.
- Support environmental and ergonomic initiatives within the facility.
- Prepare industrial sketches, work orders, and purchase order requests, while ensuring personal protective equipment is used and work areas remain clean.
- Report accidents or unsafe conditions immediately to the department supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related academic or experiential background.
- Solid foundation in manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, materials, and metrology.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and drive results in cost reduction or revenue growth through effective prioritization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with computers and software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Creative problem-solving skills and ability to recommend innovative options.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including indirect supervision of process technicians.
- Due to client requirements, U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Three years of experience in a manufacturing facility, with familiarity in machining, grinding, turning, shearing, punching, honing, EDM, deburring, and cryo-flashing.
- Mechanical design experience and comfort with hand-working on equipment, ranging from engines to electronics.
- Experience with basic metrology tools and methods for accurate measurement.
- One year of experience in elastomeric or polymer (rubber or plastic) manufacturing, including injection molding.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and Design for Manufacturing principles.
- Exposure to ISO9001 or AS9100D quality system certifications.
