Primary Care Physician (MD/DO, FM/IM) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Primary Care Physician (MD/DO, FM/IM) to join an innovative healthcare organization committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in Birmingham, AL. Role and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care to an adult and senior patient population, focusing on those with multiple chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension.
- Embrace a value-based care model, prioritizing patient outcomes, satisfaction, and quality metrics (including HEDIS compliance and reduction of hospitalizations).
- Manage a patient panel with a maximum of 650 individuals, seeing an average of 10-12 patients per day to ensure personalized, high-quality care.
- Collaborate closely with a dedicated care team, including a Medical Assistant, scheduler, referral specialist, and support from clinic leadership.
- Utilize technology and office procedures such as suturing, joint injections, skin biopsies, and basic wound care as needed.
- Participate in a shared call schedule based on the number of physicians in the market (for example, 1:32 weeks if there are 32 providers).
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive clinic environment that encourages wellness through on-site activities and services available to patients, including transportation assistance and health-promoting programs.
- Uphold the organization’s mission of respect, compassion, and excellence in care for patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM) or Internal Medicine (IM).
- Fellowship training in Geriatrics is a plus, though not required.
- Current, unrestricted, and active medical license to practice medicine.
- Valid and current DEA registration.
- Proficient in common office-based procedures such as suturing, joint injections, skin biopsies, and wound care.
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, patient satisfaction, and value-based care principles.
