Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) Job Description
Optigy is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Harlingen, TX. This position is ideal for physicians who are passionate about delivering value-based healthcare and making a positive impact on the senior community. As a Primary Care Physician (MD/DO), you will provide comprehensive care in an onsite clinical environment, focusing on a panel of Medicare Advantage patients. The role offers a unique blend of longer patient visits and a manageable daily volume, creating an environment where quality of care is prioritized over quantity.
Responsibilities
- Deliver primary care services to a senior population, focusing on preventive care, chronic disease management, and overall wellness.
- Conduct patient visits with an average daily volume of 12–18 patients, allowing for in-depth consultations and personalized care planning.
- Utilize a value-based clinical model designed to reduce emergency room visits and hospital admissions.
- Collaborate closely with a supportive leadership team and leverage a proprietary electronic medical record (EMR) system for efficient documentation and care coordination.
- Participate in care model initiatives to improve patient outcomes and promote patient-centered healthcare practices.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards in primary care delivery.
- Engage in ongoing communication and education with patients and their families regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Current Texas medical license, or willingness to obtain one prior to the assignment start date.
- Experience in geriatric medicine or value-based care is preferred, though not required.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a primary care setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Assignment Details
- Full-time, onsite position based in Harlingen, TX as a locum tenens provider, with a minimum commitment of 3 months and the potential for permanent placement.
- All travel, housing, and malpractice insurance are fully covered for the duration of the assignment.
