Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) Overview
This full-time Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) position offers a dynamic opportunity to provide value-based, comprehensive healthcare to Medicare patient populations in Birmingham, AL. As part of an innovative network of neighborhood primary care centers, the Primary Care Physician will work collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary care team. This role enables providers to focus on high-quality, patient-centered outcomes while leveraging a model that rewards preventive care and positive patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality primary care services to adult and senior Medicare patients, utilizing a value-based care model to promote preventive health and reduce hospital admissions.
- Collaborate with an integrated care team, including scribes, medical assistants, and social workers, to provide equitable, coordinated care.
- Engage in both routine and diagnostic patient visits, typically seeing 13-16 patients per day with 20-minute regular appointments and 40-minute diagnostic or new patient consultations.
- Utilize onsite resources such as laboratory services with dedicated phlebotomy and access to specialty consultation platforms like RubiconMD.
- Document clinical encounters using Canopy and Greenway EMR systems, ensuring accurate and timely charting.
- Contribute to a positive patient experience by participating in community room activities and supporting initiatives such as exercise, wellness events, and group classes.
- Uphold the organization’s mission to deliver equitable, effective, and accessible healthcare to the Birmingham, AL community.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Active, unrestricted state medical license (non-probationary status required).
- Fellowship training in Geriatrics is preferred but not required.
- Residents are not eligible for this position.
