The Primary Care Medical Director (MD/DO) is a key leadership position within a healthcare organization, serving as a clinical and administrative leader for a network of primary care clinics. This opportunity enables the Primary Care Medical Director to work closely with executive leadership and frontline clinicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering professional development and operational excellence across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support clinical operations across 3-5 primary care clinics in the Charlotte, NC market, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and coach primary care providers (PCPs) and staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performance clinical environment.
- Maintain a blend of administrative duties and clinical practice, providing direct patient care as needed to support clinic operations and remain connected to patient needs.
- Participate in the opening of new clinics, providing clinical leadership and operational guidance during market expansion initiatives.
- Collaborate with the executive team, including the VP of Operations and corporate leadership, to develop and implement organizational strategies and best practices.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, including HEDIS measures, documentation and accurate coding, utilization management, and clinical compliance.
- Contribute to network development, specialty referrals, patient engagement, and community outreach efforts.
- Support continuous improvement by sharing insights and collaborating with leadership in other markets.
- Communicate and embody the organization’s mission to transform primary care, especially for senior populations, within the Charlotte, NC community.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical policies and foster an inclusive, patient-centered culture across all clinics.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatrics preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in value-based care (VBC) or managed care settings strongly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coach clinical staff in a primary care environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within the Charlotte, NC market to support multiple clinic locations as needed.
