The Primary Care Medical Director (MD/DO) position is a key clinical leadership opportunity within a thriving healthcare organization. Based in Charlotte, NC, the Primary Care Medical Director (MD/DO) will oversee multiple clinic locations, mentor and coach providers, and play an instrumental role in shaping the success and growth of the regional market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of primary care physicians (PCPs) across 3 to 5 clinics, ensuring the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Provide direct patient care as needed to maintain clinical skills and support operational needs.
- Collaborate with the executive team and other leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals.
- Contribute to opening new clinics and support the launch of new markets, including preparing clinics for operational readiness.
- Supervise clinical operations, working closely with operations leadership to optimize workflows, ensure compliance, and achieve clinical excellence.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, including HEDIS measures, documentation accuracy, and utilization management.
- Support network development, specialty referrals, transitional care, and case management activities to enhance patient outcomes.
- Participate in policy development to uphold clinical compliance and foster continuous improvement.
- Engage with the local community and facilitate patient engagement activities to promote the organization’s mission.
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive culture that supports staff development and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatrics is required; Geriatrics experience is a plus.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in value-based care (VBC) or managed care environments preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and lead clinical teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for provider and patient engagement.
- Willingness to travel within the Charlotte, NC market to support multiple clinics.
