As a Plumbing Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing plumbing operations ranging from smaller commercial installations to large-scale, multifaceted projects that require both technical expertise and exceptional supervisory skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all phases of work performed on plumbing systems, ensuring projects ranging from small basic commercial installations to large, complex plumbing systems are completed to the highest standards.
- Direct, coordinate, and oversee plumbing teams and multiple foremen across various job sites for efficient workflow and quality control.
- Assist in administration of the company's safety program; maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to safety protocols and promoting best practices.
- Interpret and implement plumbing blueprints, specifications, and codes to guarantee compliance and project accuracy.
- Collaborate with other craft teams and review major craft blueprints to ensure seamless integration with plumbing systems.
- Oversee all types of plumbing systems, including domestic water and medical gas, ensuring each system meets project and safety requirements.
- Communicate regularly with employees and clients, providing updates and addressing concerns in a professional manner.
- Develop project schedules, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Identify potential safety hazards in real time and take prompt corrective action to maintain a secure job site.
- Work in various conditions, including outdoor environments exposed to weather and elements, and occasionally manage tasks in confined or awkward positions.
- Safely perform and oversee heavy lifting tasks, up to 50 pounds, using mechanical devices where necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of verifiable experience in the plumbing trade, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing blueprints, specifications, codes, and the ability to interpret and implement them in real-world scenarios.
- Thorough understanding of other major craft blueprints, facilitating collaboration across trades.
- In-depth experience with all aspects of plumbing systems, including specialized systems such as medical gas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, crucial for effective interaction with teams and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and support multiple foremen across various projects.
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage schedules and meet project deadlines consistently.
- Physical capability to work in diverse environments, including outdoor job sites and confined or awkward positions.
- Ability to perform and oversee heavy lifting tasks, and address safety hazards promptly to ensure safe operations.
