Piping Estimator – Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and assess business development opportunities by connecting with pre-construction departments of general contractors
- Review project drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and contracts to determine impacts on project scope and cost
- Develop comprehensive and competitive estimates using estimating software and computer-based takeoff systems
- Coordinate with other trades to align drawings, scopes, and contact points
- Prepare RFIs, solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors, and generate project summaries, schedules, and letters
- Generate reports and participate in bid review meetings with the estimating manager
- Support project selling through scope development, presentations, and client negotiations
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, presenting scopes, budgets, work plans, and limitations
- Track labor productivity and monitor project performance against estimates
- Attend daily staff meetings to discuss changes in scope, production updates, and implement corrective actions as needed

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience estimating industrial or commercial construction projects with a focus on high-purity process piping
- Proficiency with estimating software such as FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, or QuickPen
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Preferred: Experience in semiconductor and/or biopharmaceutical construction
- Preferred: Field, craft, or piping trade experience, or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Familiarity with related piping systems, including plumbing and HVAC
- Physical requirements: Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, read printed and digital materials, climb ladders, access confined spaces, hear in noisy environments, wear PPE, and handle small objects and tools
