Pipe Layer Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pipe Layer to join our civil construction team on a full-time basis in Carlsbad, CA. The Pipe Layer plays a crucial role in infrastructure development, working directly on the installation, assembly, and repair of pipe systems for various civil construction projects. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in laying and fitting pipes who are looking to advance their careers in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform precise pipe laying in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Install, assemble, and repair pipes and fittings, including ductile iron pipe, ensuring correct alignment and secure connections.
- Prepare work areas by grading, trenching, and ensuring a safe environment for pipe installation activities.
- Assist equipment operators in positioning and placing pipes.
- Utilize hand tools to backfill and secure pipes after installation.
- Operate pipe lasers and transits to ensure accurate grading and alignment of piping systems.
- Join pipes using bolts, screws, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement according to project requirements.
- Conduct testing of installed pipes to verify system integrity and identify any leaks or issues.
- Support manufacturing-related tasks as needed, including cleaning raw and waste materials, skimming molten iron, adding raw materials to ladles, rolling pipe down conveyors, operating mobile equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Monitor pipe ovens, patch ladles, and ensure plant equipment is maintained for optimal production.
- Proven experience in pipe laying, assembly, and repair within civil construction or related industries.
- Comprehensive understanding of the tools, equipment, and materials required for pipe installation and fitting.
- Welding experience and the ability to adapt piping systems to meet specific project needs.
- Familiarity with all components of piping systems, including brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in math and science, to ensure accurate measurements and installations.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact with team members and clients as needed.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including fitting into tight spaces and working outdoors.
