Pipe Layer - Summary
As a Pipe Layer, you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of piping systems for civil construction projects. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform pipe laying for water, sewage, and drainage systems.
- Install, assemble, and repair pipes and fittings, including ductile iron pipe.
- Prepare work areas by grading and trenching to ensure proper placement of pipes.
- Assist equipment operators in positioning pipes accurately within prepared trenches.
- Use hand tools and equipment to backfill around pipes and secure them in place.
- Operate pipe lasers, transits, and other measurement tools to ensure correct alignment and slope.
- Join pipes using bolts, screws, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement.
- Test piping systems for leaks and proper functionality.
- Participate in manufacturing-related tasks such as cleaning raw and waste materials, skimming molten iron, and adding raw materials to ladles.
- Roll pipes down conveyors, operate mobile equipment, clean work areas, stack timbers on pipes, monitor pipe ovens, and patch ladles as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in pipe laying, assembly, and repair within civil construction projects.
- Proficient in the use of tools and equipment required for pipe fitting and installation.
- Welding experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to customize and adapt piping systems to project specifications.
- Familiarity with all components of piping systems, including brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Strong customer service skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Technical proficiency, including basic math and science skills necessary for accurate measurements and calculations.
