Physician Assistant (PA) OverviewAccess Healthcare Multi-Specialty Group, an established and independent multi-specialty practice, is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time position. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated healthcare professional to contribute to a practice with a longstanding history of serving patients in Forest, VA. The Physician Assistant (PA) will be an integral member of the team, working closely with physicians and staff to provide comprehensive medical services in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in an outpatient family medicine setting, managing acute and chronic health conditions for a diverse patient population.
- Conduct annual physical exams, women's health annual exams, and acute/same-day appointments, ensuring thorough and compassionate evaluation and treatment.
- Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and congestive heart failure (CHF).
- Refer patients to specialists, including cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology, and other relevant fields as clinically indicated.
- Utilize Athena electronic medical record (EMR) system for efficient and accurate documentation of patient encounters and care plans.
- Participate in telephone-only call coverage as part of the outpatient care model, with excellent access to on-site physician support.
- Demonstrate commitment to quality-focused care and adherence to Medicare and Medicaid billing and coding guidelines.
- Develop lasting relationships with patients and families within the community, promoting trust and continuity of care.
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program, with experience or emphasis in Family Medicine strongly preferred.
- Current and valid Virginia State Medical License, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Certification in CPR/BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
- Comfort and experience with women’s health exams, including pelvic and pap smears.
- Strong proficiency in EMR documentation and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Commitment to high standards of patient care, with a quality-focused approach and participation in an Accountable Care Organization (ACO).
- Prior experience as a Family Medicine Physician Assistant is preferred but not required.
