Physician Assistant Oncology (PA-C) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations, specific to oncology patients
- Work collaboratively with oncologists and multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results relevant to oncology
- Prescribe medications and therapies as authorized under state and federal law
- Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary in consultation with supervising physicians
- Provide patient education and counseling regarding diagnosis, treatment options, side effect management, and ongoing health maintenance
- Participate in tumor boards, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives
- Document patient encounters, procedures, and interventions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Support patients and their families through all stages of the cancer care continuum, from diagnosis through survivorship or end-of-life care

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license (PA-C) required
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Board certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Demonstrated experience in oncology or hematology preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective patient and team interactions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current with oncology best practices
