The PTA is expected to uphold all relevant state practice act guidelines, ensuring that physical therapy services remain compliant, ethical, and effective. Every visit begins with a verification of the current Plan of Care, and all activities are performed in line with assessment data, physician orders, and established clinical standards.
Patient education is a key component of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) role. The PTA provides thorough instruction to patients and their families regarding the safe and effective use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices. The role demands the ability to travel within the designated coverage area, so a dependable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and up-to-date auto insurance are necessary. Physical strength and mobility are important, as the PTA must be able to lift, push, pull, and support up to 50 pounds in the process of patient positioning, transferring, or moving equipment.
