As a valued member of our interdisciplinary team, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide direct therapeutic interventions. Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Summary
- Support patients with direct physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Deliver care in accordance with established plans and physician directives, ensuring safety and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
- Promote the mission and values of Elara Caring by providing high-quality, compassionate therapy in the patient’s home setting.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement therapeutic interventions as prescribed by the Physical Therapist and documented in the Plan of Care.
- Monitor and report changes in patient status to the supervising Physical Therapist promptly.
- Verify physician orders and care plans prior to each visit, maintaining compliance with all applicable standards.
- Educate patients and family members on safe, effective use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices.
- Provide instruction to patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and strategies to enhance independence.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations governing physical therapy practice, including State Practice Act Guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of patient care activities and progress.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, holistic patient care.
- Handle, lift, and transfer patients safely, utilizing appropriate body mechanics and assistive equipment as needed.
- May be required to work irregular hours, including participation in an on-call rotation, as necessary to meet patient needs.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- Current, unrestricted PTA license valid for the state in which services are provided.
- Preferred: At least six months of practical experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
- Ability and willingness to travel within the assigned branch or office coverage area as needed to support patient care.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and up-to-date auto insurance in accordance with state regulations.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and provide support for up to 50 pounds in a demanding clinical environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on patient education and teamwork.
