In this home health position, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing direct physical therapy interventions, following the established Plan of Care, and maintaining communication with the supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient status and progress. You will work with patients facing various physical challenges, supporting them in their recovery and return to daily life activities. This role involves not only delivering therapeutic interventions but also educating patients and their families on exercise programs, mobility aids, and safe practices within the home environment.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer physical therapy interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist and according to the Plan of Care.
- Incorporate patient care goals and physician directives into therapy activities.
- Provide instruction to patients and caregivers on the proper use of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive devices.
- Educate patients and family members on home exercise programs to support ongoing rehabilitation.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, transferring, and supporting patients during therapy sessions.
- Monitor and promptly report changes in patient status or response to therapy to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of therapy services provided.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant clinical guidelines, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
- Travel to patient homes within the assigned coverage area, demonstrating flexibility and strong time management skills.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- Current, unrestricted PTA license valid for the state of employment.
- Preferred minimum of 6 months of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, ideally with home health exposure.
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and up-to-date auto insurance.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned coverage area.
- Physical capacity to lift, push, and support up to 50 pounds as part of patient care.
