Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Summary
- Work under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists to deliver physical therapy treatments and interventions in a skilled nursing facility.
- Support patient rehabilitation plans tailored to individual needs, helping patients regain mobility, manage pain, and improve their quality of life.
- Foster a compassionate and collaborative care environment, contributing to the ongoing success of the rehabilitation department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists to develop, implement, and modify individualized patient treatment plans.
- Assist patients with prescribed therapeutic exercises and activities to promote mobility and functional ability.
- Monitor patient progress throughout therapy sessions, making observations and documenting results accurately according to facility protocols.
- Educate patients and their caregivers or families on at-home exercises, safety, and self-care techniques to optimize recovery and independence.
- Apply medical terminology and understanding of treatment modalities to enhance patient care and therapeutic results.
- Provide support in areas including acute care, orthopedics, geriatrics, occupational health, and trigger point therapy as appropriate to patient needs.
- Conduct initial screenings of residents for potential referral to a Physical Therapist as scheduled and as part of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Contribute objective data and observations to Physical Therapists within the scope of practice for a PTA.
- Deliver physical therapy treatments and interventions as indicated by the established plan of care.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings, interdisciplinary team collaborations, and facility initiatives to ensure optimal patient outcomes and departmental success.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
- Current and valid PTA license in the state of Florida (required).
- CPR certification (required).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic medical record systems.
