Perfusionist (CCP) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor heart-lung machines and related equipment during open-heart and complex thoracic surgeries.
- Manage extracorporeal circulation and ensure effective oxygenation and perfusion of the patient’s organs.
- Monitor patient blood gases, electrolyte levels, and coagulation status, making real-time adjustments as required.
- Administer blood products, medications, and fluids under physician direction.
- Document all perfusion-related activities, maintaining accurate clinical records.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, calibrated, and functioning according to safety standards.
- Participate in intraoperative decision-making by providing expertise on circulation and perfusion management.
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in perfusion technology or related allied health field required.
- Certification as a Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) or equivalent credential.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong understanding of extracorporeal circulation principles and cardiac surgical procedures.
