Pediatric School Nurse RN - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one skilled nursing care for a pediatric student, including tracheostomy and ventilator management
- Monitor and assess the student’s health status throughout the school day, documenting observations and interventions
- Administer prescribed medications, tube feedings, and other treatments as ordered by the healthcare provider
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and implement emergency protocols as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to support the student’s integration and participation in classroom and extracurricular activities
- Communicate regularly with the student’s family and medical team to coordinate care and share updates
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records, in compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Educate staff and peers, as appropriate, about the student’s healthcare needs and emergency procedures
- Ensure all medical equipment is functioning properly and that infection control protocols are strictly followed
- Advocate for the student’s health and educational needs within the school setting

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Experience with pediatric tracheostomy and ventilator care strongly preferred
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Demonstrated ability to assess, intervene, and respond to complex medical situations
- Strong communication and documentation skills
