Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Deliver high-acuity nursing care to pediatric patients from birth through 18 years of age.
- Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Act as a patient and family advocate, ensuring quality care and support.
- Support the health and readiness of military service members, veterans, and their families.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-specific nursing care for pediatric patients.
- Perform high-acuity care for postoperative and medically complex pediatric cases.
- Administer medications and prescribed treatments according to nursing standards.
- Monitor and interpret patient data, including vital signs and laboratory results.
- Document all patient care accurately using electronic and manual systems.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate life-saving measures as necessary.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and execute care plans.
- Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed, especially for immune-compromised patients.
- Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors.
- Participate in quality assurance and risk management initiatives.
- Perform direct patient care procedures, including wound care, IV initiation, specimen collection, and urinary catheterization.
- Maintain clean and stocked patient rooms and ensure proper report documentation.
- May participate in research and serve on healthcare committees as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate of Science in Nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited institution.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Minimum of two years of recent nursing experience, with a preference for pediatric or family practice nursing.
- Demonstrated experience in pediatric postoperative care is highly valued.
