As a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician (PEM), you will be integral to a robust emergency medicine program that has earned distinction as the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center across a multi-county region. The facility receives approximately 59,000 annual pediatric ED visits and is equipped with 45 pediatric emergency department beds. The admission rate stands at 16%, highlighting the acuity and complexity of cases managed by the team.
The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician (PEM) team operates within a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting, with significant support from 27 full-time PEM attendings and over a dozen pediatric emergency medicine fellows. There is active oversight of residents from pediatric, emergency medicine, family medicine, and transitional programs, emphasizing the institution's commitment to education and professional growth. The clinical environment is further enhanced by a dedicated nursing team trained in PALS, ACLS, TNCC, Pediatric SANE, and other advanced certifications.
Physicians in this role can expect a manageable shift structure, with 8- and 9-hour shifts providing comprehensive daily coverage. The facility utilizes Cerner with CPOE and PowerNote for efficient and accurate documentation. As a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician (PEM), you will have access to an advanced simulation center, expansion-ready facilities, and specialized congenital heart, NICU, and fetal care services. Additional trauma services are available at a satellite campus, ensuring broad support for pediatric patients with diverse needs.
