Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician (PEM) – Full-Time – Austin, TX Position OverviewOptigy is seeking an experienced Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician (PEM) to join an innovative, nationally recognized pediatric healthcare campus in Austin, TX. As a full-time Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician, you will play a vital role in a dynamic clinical and academic environment at the region’s only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, serving a broad 46-county area. This facility is renowned for providing high-acuity, comprehensive pediatric emergency care in a state-of-the-art environment, supported by robust academic affiliations and future-forward growth opportunities. The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician position is ideal for professionals passionate about delivering exceptional pediatric care and contributing to academic advancement.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality emergency medical care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor residents from pediatric, emergency medicine, family medicine, and transitional programs.
- Participate in academic activities, including quality improvement, advocacy, education, and research initiatives.
- Utilize Cerner EMR with CPOE and PowerNote documentation to maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Contribute to a department with 59,000 annual pediatric ED visits, 45 dedicated pediatric ED beds, and an admission rate of 16%.
- Engage in advanced simulation training and support the operation of an expansion-ready facility with specialized units including congenital heart, NICU, and fetal care services.
- Benefit from a supportive team of 27 full-time PEM attendings and 12–13 pediatric emergency medicine fellows.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM).
- Commitment to excellence in pediatric emergency care and dedication to academic and professional growth.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to effectively coordinate care across multiple specialties.
- Faculty appointment available through The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School.
