Palm Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (Pediatric Acute Care NP, Cardiac ICU, Locum) to join our expanding team. This position is focused on providing high-level care to pediatric patients recovering from cardiac surgery in our newly established Cardiac Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. As a Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (Pediatric Acute Care NP, Cardiac ICU, Locum), you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to critically ill children. Your role will involve hands-on clinical procedures, acute patient management, and coordination of care for a unique population of post-operative pediatric cardiac patients. This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced nurse practitioners or physician assistants with a background in pediatric critical care to work in a state-of-the-art facility and help launch a new unit committed to delivering outstanding pediatric cardiac care.
The unit features 6-8 specialized beds designed for the monitoring and management of complex cardiac cases. The ideal candidate will have experience with advanced clinical procedures such as lumbar punctures, femoral central venous line placement, peripheral arterial line insertion, and ventilator management. You will be expected to manage patients across all acuity levels and respond promptly to emergent situations, ensuring the highest standard of care is maintained at all times. This role requires availability for a mix of day and overnight 12-hour shifts, including weekends, with a minimum of six or more shifts every four weeks. Rapid credentialing is available for qualified applicants.

Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (Pediatric Acute Care NP, Cardiac ICU, Locum) - Summary- Contract position for an experienced Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Work in a specialized Cardiac Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- Focus on post-operative care for pediatric cardiac surgery patients
- Contribute to the launch and growth of a new critical care unit
- Located in Dallas, TX, with rapid credentialing and onboarding
- Provide advanced clinical care to pediatric patients in the cardiac ICU
- Perform procedures including lumbar puncture, femoral central venous line placement, and arterial line insertion
- Manage ventilator support and monitor critically ill children
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Respond to emergent clinical scenarios and effectively manage care transitions
- Participate in rounds, document care, and communicate with families and healthcare staff
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pediatric cardiac critical care best practices

- Current national certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- At least one year of advanced practice provider experience in pediatric critical care
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing advanced procedures (lumbar puncture, central and arterial line placement, ventilator management)
- BLS and ACLS certifications preferred
- Ability to work a rotating schedule of 12-hour day and overnight shifts, including weekends
- Eligibility for emergency credentialing as required
