As a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) in Dallas, TX, you will play a key role in supporting the opening of a new pediatric unit, serving the local community's diverse pediatric population. This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive care for critically ill pediatric patients. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is equipped with 6-8 beds and handles a broad spectrum of cases, including medical and surgical ICU patients, as well as those with asthma exacerbations and toxic ingestions.
The position requires a minimum commitment of 13 weeks, with the option to extend to 26 weeks or longer. The flexible scheduling includes 24-hour or 12-hour shifts, or a combination of both, with a minimum expectation of 3-4 shifts monthly and additional shifts available based on staffing needs and practitioner availability. Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) - Summary- Contract position in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Dallas, TX
- Work with a collaborative team in a newly opened pediatric unit
- Flexible contract duration: 13 weeks minimum, option to extend to 26 weeks or longer
- Immediate emergency credentialing available for qualified candidates
- Provide advanced clinical care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
- Perform procedures such as lumbar punctures, femoral central venous line placement, peripheral arterial line placement, and ventilator management
- Utilize and manage Servo, LTV, and Trilogy ventilators
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
- Participate in daily rounds, patient evaluations, and family communications
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient care and interventions
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, policies, and regulatory standards
- Competitive hourly rate: $100-115/hr (1099 contract)

- Active and unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner license (required)
- Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification (PNP-AC) or licensed/experienced Physician Assistant
- Minimum of one year of pediatric critical care advanced practice experience
- Proficient in pediatric procedures and ventilator management
- Ability to work 24-hour or 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 3-4 shifts monthly
- Experienced in pediatric intensive care and critical care procedures
- Demonstrates strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable in high-acuity environments
