Pathologists' Assistant (PA) - Summary- Play a central role in the hospital laboratory, performing gross examination, dissection, and dictation of surgical specimens.
- Collaborate with a team of pathologists and laboratory professionals to ensure accurate specimen identification and efficient workflow.
- Contribute to the overall quality and compliance of laboratory operations by adhering to CAP, CLIA, and facility-specific safety standards.
- Conduct gross examination, dissection, and detailed dictation of a wide variety of surgical specimens, including large and complex cases.
- Ensure accurate specimen identification, tracking, and documentation throughout the diagnostic process.
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to facilitate timely case turnaround and support optimal patient care.
- Adhere to all compliance, safety, and quality control standards as outlined by CAP, CLIA, and facility guidelines.
- Participate in laboratory quality improvement initiatives, actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes and outcomes.
- Maintain a high standard of organization, attention to detail, and professionalism in all aspects of laboratory practice.
- Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience and industry standards.
- Consistent day shift schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM shifts.
- No on-call requirements; overtime is available after 8 hours daily or 168 hours weekly.
- Work in a supportive, collaborative team environment with a focus on professional growth and patient-centered care.
- Current ASCP certification is required for the Pathologists' Assistant (PA) role.
- Demonstrated experience in grossing large surgical specimens is essential.
- Previous work experience as a Pathologists' Assistant (PA) in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
- No hospital MSO privileges required for this assignment.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with a track record of accuracy in specimen processing and documentation.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary pathology team.
