As an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon (Locum Tenens), you will be a vital member of an elite trauma team, delivering critical care and surgical expertise for high-acuity trauma cases. The trauma center operates a high-volume service with a daily trauma census ranging from 35 to 45 patients, ensuring a dynamic and stimulating work environment. The hospital is equipped with 23 dedicated orthopedic trauma operating rooms and leverages cutting-edge technology, including the Epic electronic medical records system, to support clinical excellence and efficiency.
The trauma team is supported by a multidisciplinary group of residents, nurse practitioners, clinical trauma nurses, and fellowship-trained orthopedic traumatologists. This comprehensive support network enables you to focus on delivering superior patient care while contributing to a collaborative and educational patient care environment. The scope of clinical practice includes management of high-energy fractures, polytrauma, periarticular injuries, advanced hindfoot and ankle reconstructions, Ilizarov techniques, pelvic and acetabular reconstructions, and complex limb deformity corrections. There are no elective clinic responsibilities unless specifically requested, allowing you to concentrate exclusively on trauma and acute care surgery.
Work shifts are structured as 24-hour call periods, with flexible scheduling options tailored to fit your availability. In-house backup and support are consistently provided by trauma fellows and residents, ensuring coverage and continuity of care for all patients. The credentialing process is streamlined specifically for locum tenens providers, and malpractice coverage is included. Additionally, the hospital covers all housing and travel arrangements, removing logistical burdens so you can focus on patient care.
