Operating Room RN (OR RN) - Summary
The Operating Room RN (OR RN) provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role emphasizes advanced clinical skills, rapid decision-making, and strict adherence to patient safety protocols. The OR RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in the operating room. Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert perioperative nursing care for a variety of surgical cases with an emphasis on trauma and orthopedic procedures.
- Circulate and/or scrub for robotic-assisted surgical cases, ensuring correct setup, maintenance, and operation of advanced surgical equipment and platforms.
- Manage emergency and urgent surgical admissions during night shifts, utilizing critical thinking skills and clinical judgement to prioritize patient needs.
- Maintain a sterile and safe operating room environment, strictly following infection control guidelines and advocating for patient safety throughout the intraoperative phase.
- Communicate effectively with surgical team members, patient families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and families, helping them understand the surgical process and recovery expectations.
- Participate in ongoing education, training, and quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted state RN license required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant operating room experience in an acute care setting.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Travel RN.
- Documented clinical experience in trauma, orthopedics, and robotic-assisted surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently during night shifts and manage high-pressure, emergent situations.
