Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN, OR Nurse) - Summary
- Deliver perioperative nursing care in a dynamic operating room environment.
- Ensure patient safety and uphold ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgical staff, and allied health professionals.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory, infection control, and process improvement protocols.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functional.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, verify accurate documentation, and anticipate the needs of surgical patients.
- Follow the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) guidelines to maintain surgical integrity.
- Operate and maintain a wide range of medical and non-medical equipment to promote patient and staff safety.
- Document all procedures accurately in the Electronic Health Care Record.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to regulatory standards and infection control policies.
- Execute physician orders as written and communicate pertinent information to the responsible physician promptly.
- Implement nursing interventions to prevent complications and reduce the need for additional hospitalization.
- Participate in orientation and training of newly assigned personnel as necessary.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required and comply with all safety protocols.
- Function independently in diverse surgical settings with minimal supervision.
- Provide care within established ethical and legal boundaries at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the operating room within the last three years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification preferred but not required.
- Must meet all continuing nursing education requirements as mandated by state regulations.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
