Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) is a vital member of the surgical team, providing expert nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. As an OR RN, you will play a key role in ensuring patient safety, advocating for best practices, and working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals. This position is designed for experienced registered nurses who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume surgical environments and are committed to delivering exceptional patient care throughout the perioperative process.

As an OR RN, you will utilize your clinical expertise and technical skills to assist with a wide variety of surgical procedures. Your proficiency in EPIC electronic health records is essential for accurate patient documentation and seamless communication within the healthcare team. You will be responsible for preparing the operating room for surgery, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile, and maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols. During surgical procedures, you will monitor patients’ vital signs, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and respond swiftly to any changes in patient status.

In this full-time role, you will work a core schedule of Monday through Friday, typically from 06:45 to 15:15, with some flexibility required based on surgical caseloads. The ability to adapt to extended shifts as surgeries run over is essential. Additionally, the role involves on-call responsibilities, including one weeknight every two weeks and one full weekend every six weeks. This commitment ensures that high-quality surgical care is available to patients at all times.

The ideal candidate for the Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) position will have a minimum of two years of experience in a busy operating room setting. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are critical attributes for success. You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of EPIC electronic health records and possess excellent communication abilities to facilitate effective teamwork and patient advocacy.
