Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Summary- Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
- Works under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services and/or OR Charge Registered Nurse.
- Ensures compliance with AORN Standards and hospital policies and procedures.
- Promotes a safe, supportive, and patient-centered operating room environment.
- Performs preoperative patient assessments, including verification of surgical procedures and patient identification.
- Prepares the operating room for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterilized.
- Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other surgical team members to facilitate efficient and safe surgical procedures.
- Monitors patients’ vital signs, anesthesia response, and overall status during surgery.
- Assists with positioning, prepping, and draping patients according to procedure protocols.
- Maintains accurate and detailed documentation of intraoperative care and patient responses.
- Implements infection control practices and safety measures in accordance with hospital and AORN standards.
- Provides postoperative care and assists with patient transfers to recovery areas.
- Participates in ongoing education, training, and quality improvement initiatives related to perioperative nursing.

- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room or perioperative setting preferred.
- Knowledge of AORN Standards of perioperative nursing practice.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
