The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient care during surgical and invasive procedures. Reporting directly to the Director of Surgical Services and/or the OR Charge Nurse, the Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing care and serving as a key member of the surgical team. Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Summary
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care in the operating room, adhering to AORN Standards and hospital guidelines.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to provide safe and efficient care throughout all surgical procedures.

- Utilize critical thinking and technical skills to address patient needs before, during, and after surgery.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess and prepare patients for surgical and invasive procedures, including verifying patient identity, surgical site, and procedure details.
- Implement evidence-based nursing interventions under the guidance of the surgical director and charge nurse.
- Monitor and document patient status during all phases of the perioperative experience.
- Circulate in the operating room, ensuring the surgical field remains sterile and that all equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.
- Advocate for patient safety and comfort, responding promptly to any changes in condition or surgical needs.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in postoperative care, including patient transfer and hand-off to the recovery team.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license meeting all state and facility requirements.
- Minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience, with recent experience in an operating room environment preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required, as this is an acute care facility.
- Demonstrated proficiency in perioperative nursing care and adherence to AORN Standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
