This full-time position involves providing comprehensive nursing care within the operating room, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, and working under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and/or the OR Charge Registered Nurse. The OR RN will adhere strictly to AORN Standards and the hospital’s policies and procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care throughout the surgical process.
As an OR RN, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and effective environment in the operating room, advocating for patients, and ensuring all necessary preparations are in place prior to, during, and after surgical procedures. This includes the coordination of surgical teams, monitoring patient status, and anticipating the needs of both the surgical team and the patient. The Operating Room Registered Nurse will also be expected to uphold the ethical and professional standards of nursing practice, promoting a culture of safety and collaboration.

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Summary
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and invasive procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterile and available.
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to identify patient needs and potential risks.
- Serve as the patient’s advocate throughout the surgical process, maintaining their safety and dignity.
- Monitor patient status during procedures, documenting observations and communicating any concerns promptly to the surgical team.
- Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure efficient flow of operations, including managing supplies and equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Assist with post-operative patient care, including monitoring for complications and providing education and support to patients and families.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with best practices in perioperative nursing.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license meeting all required state and federal regulations.
- Minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience required.
- At least one year of travel nursing experience preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required and must be current.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required.
- Proven experience in trauma, orthopedic, and robotics surgical environments.
- Strong understanding and adherence to AORN Standards and best practices.
