Oncology Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage patients diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, amyloid, and those undergoing stem cell harvest on the inpatient service.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor daily labs, manage vital signs, transfusions, and electrolyte replacement.
- Respond to acute oncologic emergencies, manage complications related to malignancies, relapsed disease, and chemotherapy side effects.
- Admit and discharge patients while ensuring thorough documentation.
- Coordinate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement discharge plans for outpatient follow-up.
- Conduct procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and skin punch biopsies.
- Present patient cases to attending oncologists, coordinate care plans with pharmacists and other team members, and consult specialty services as needed.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, manage handoffs, and coordinate movement of patients from the emergency department and teaching services.
- Lead end-of-life care discussions, communicate updates to families, educate patients and families on malignancy and treatment options, and promote safe at-home practices.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA-C) license.
- Current state licensure as required for practice.
- Proven experience in managing oncology patients, particularly those with hematologic malignancies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute oncologic emergencies and complications of relapsed diseases.
- Strong procedural skills, including bone marrow and skin punch biopsies, are preferred.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and high-quality patient care.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
