The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) delivers care in a high-volume employee health clinic, addressing a range of occupational health concerns. Working collaboratively with physicians, multidisciplinary clinicians, and administrative staff, the provider delivers pre-placement, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty evaluations. In addition, the Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) plays a pivotal role in injury assessment and ongoing case management, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct care for up to 20–25 patients per day in a busy occupational medicine clinic environment
- Conduct pre-placement physical exams, return-to-work evaluations, and fitness-for-duty assessments to determine employees’ readiness for workplace activities
- Evaluate and manage both initial and ongoing work-related injuries, ensuring accurate diagnosis and appropriate care plans
- Order, interpret, and follow up on x-rays and laboratory tests as part of comprehensive occupational health management
- Lead and participate in medical surveillance activities, exposure follow-up, and substance/fit-for-duty testing as required by workplace regulations
- Document and manage workers’ compensation cases with accuracy and timeliness, collaborating with other clinicians and coordinators as needed
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic employee care, contributing to continuous improvement in employee health outcomes
- Ensure compliance with corporate health protocols, regulatory standards, and best clinical practices

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), Medical Doctor (MD), or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
- Current DOT certification required to perform Department of Transportation physicals and evaluations
- Valid CDS and DEA registrations required for prescribing authority
- Substantial experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, or employee health, preferably at a senior level
- Proven proficiency in evaluating and managing workplace injuries, as well as handling complex employee health cases
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
