The Occupational Health and Safety Technician plays a critical role in supporting occupational and environmental health programs. This position is responsible for a range of administrative and technical tasks, including preparing detailed reports, maintaining accurate records, managing documentation, and coordinating schedules. The technician will also perform industrial hygiene surveys, input data into the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System – Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH), and ensure compliance with key regulatory standards such as OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, and others. Accurate documentation and attention to detail are essential in this role, as is the ability to support ongoing workplace health and safety activities.

Occupational Health and Safety Technician - Summary
- Provide vital administrative and technical support for occupational and environmental health programs.

- Prepare comprehensive reports, manage documentation, and coordinate schedules for health and safety initiatives.
- Ensure accurate data entry into DOEHRS-IH and maintain program records.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare reports and official documents using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
- Maintain records and manage documentation for occupational and environmental health programs.
- Coordinate schedules, appointments, meetings, and timelines for program activities.
- Enter data into DOEHRS-IH following local procedures and requirements.
- Support compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, ANSI, and other regulatory standards.
- Perform workplace industrial hygiene surveys to assess occupational, environmental, and radiological health hazards.
- Provide technical data and completed documentation for inclusion in program files.
- Ensure proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate degree in biomedical equipment technology, engineering, or a related field, or current Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 2-4 years of experience in inspection, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical equipment, including but not limited to defibrillators, infusion pumps, physiological monitors, and ESU/ECU units.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and standards (OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, ANSI, ACGIH, CFR).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to grammar, spelling, and formatting.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.

Other Relevant Information
- This is an on-site role located at Nellis AFB, offering a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization serving military personnel and their families.
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and carry items up to 35 pounds. Some travel within the military base may be required.
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1630, with a one-hour lunch break.
