Located in Christiansburg, this full-time OB Hospitalist Site Director opportunity places you at the forefront of obstetric hospitalist program management. You will oversee program operations, build and maintain strong professional relationships with hospital medical and nursing staff, and collaborate closely with administrative leadership. Reporting to senior clinical leadership—including the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations—you will help drive clinical and operational objectives for both the healthcare organization and the hospital partner.
As the OB Hospitalist Site Director, you will also serve as the primary liaison for the hospitalist team, including physicians and certified nurse midwives (CNMs). This leadership role includes responsibilities such as developing new clinical staff, enforcing clinical policies and procedures, and managing minor physician issues. When necessary, you will escalate concerns to senior leadership to ensure continuous quality improvement and operational excellence.
Professional development is a core component of this role, as you will train and mentor new clinicians in the value-based culture essential for patient-centered care. Additionally, you will collaborate with hospital and organizational leadership to promote utilization of labor and delivery services, further advancing the mission of delivering exceptional maternal and newborn care.

OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN Hospitalist Director) - Summary
- Lead and manage OB hospitalist program operations
- Foster strong professional relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing staff, and administrative leaders
- Serve as the primary liaison for the physician and CNM OB hospitalist team
- Report to the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations
- Collaborate to achieve clinical and operational objectives
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure delivery of high-quality obstetric care within the hospitalist program
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with hospital staff and hospitalist team members
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to support clinical and operational goals
- Travel to the hospital as needed to address operational priorities and support hospitalist team
- Train, develop, and mentor new clinicians, emphasizing a value-based culture
- Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with hospitalist staff
- Manage minor physician issues and escalate to appropriate senior leaders when needed
- Work with leadership to increase utilization of labor and delivery services
- Commit to at least five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts per 28-day period

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certified OB/GYN Physician
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of the assigned site
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships with hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nurses, staff physicians, and corporate staff
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care (preferred)
