The OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN Hospitalist Director) position is a key leadership role within the OB hospitalist clinical team, responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, value-based obstetric care. Serving as the primary point of contact for the OB hospitalist program, the OB Hospitalist Site Director works closely with the Market Medical Director (MMD), Medical Director of Operations (MDO), and Vice President of Clinical Operations (VPCO) to achieve both clinical and operational objectives. This role is integral to the successful operation of the OB hospitalist program, requiring a hands-on approach to both clinical care and program management. The director will also play a vital role in mentoring and training new clinicians, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, and addressing operational priorities as they arise.
The OB Hospitalist Site Director role also places emphasis on relationship building and communication. The director will interact regularly with hospital leadership, nursing staff, and the OB hospitalist team, fostering strong interdepartmental relationships that support the hospital's mission of delivering exceptional patient care. In addition to clinical oversight, the director will handle minor physician issues, escalate concerns when necessary, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize labor and delivery utilization.
This full-time position requires commitment to at least five 24-hour shifts per 28-day period, ensuring continuous coverage and consistent quality of care for all patients. OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN Hospitalist Director) - Summary- Leadership role within the OB hospitalist clinical team
- Responsible for program operations and quality assurance
- Reports to Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to achieve clinical and operational objectives
- Mentors and trains new clinicians in value-based care
- Oversee day-to-day program operations to ensure delivery of quality, value-based obstetric care
- Build and maintain effective relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing staff, and administrative leadership
- Maintain strong rapport with physician and certified nurse midwife (CNM) hospitalist team
- Collaborate with the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations to meet clinical and operational goals
- Travel to the hospital as needed to address operational priorities
- Train and develop new clinicians, fostering a value-based culture
- Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations
- Manage minor physician issues; escalate concerns as appropriate
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and other stakeholders to optimize labor and delivery utilization
- Fulfill at least five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts per 28-day period

- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of assignment
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nursing staff, staff physicians, and corporate staff
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care strongly preferred
- Experienced OB/GYN hospitalist with a passion for quality improvement and program leadership
- Highly relational and collaborative, adept at fostering teamwork and multidisciplinary engagement
- Demonstrates excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Values ongoing professional development and adherence to clinical protocols
- Flexible, responsive, and proactive in addressing program needs and operational priorities
- Role requires periodic on-site presence and active engagement with hospital operations
- Directs and supports a team of OB hospitalists and certified nurse midwives
