The OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN) plays a vital leadership role within the obstetric hospitalist clinical team, guiding the delivery of high-quality, value-based care in a hospital environment. This position is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence of the OB Hospitalist program, fostering collaboration among medical and administrative staff, and upholding the standards and objectives of both the hospital and the broader clinical organization. The OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN) serves as a central point of contact for physicians, certified nurse midwives (CNMs), and hospital leadership, helping to drive program success through effective relationship management, clinical oversight, and strategic program development.
As a key member of the leadership team, the OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN) is tasked with building and maintaining strong relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, and administrative leadership. The role requires frequent collaboration with the Market Medical Director (MMD), Medical Director of Operations (MDO), and Vice President of Clinical Operations (VPCO) to ensure the clinical team consistently delivers a high-quality program that aligns with organizational and hospital-specific goals. The director is expected to travel to the hospital as required to address operational priorities, train and develop new clinicians, and facilitate the adoption of a value-based culture across the team.
In addition to clinical leadership, the OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN) is responsible for enforcing clinical policies and procedures, managing minor physician issues, and escalating more significant concerns to appropriate leadership. The director also contributes to strategic initiatives, such as identifying opportunities to increase labor and delivery utilization, and works closely with hospital leadership and other stakeholders to support the overall mission of providing exceptional maternal and neonatal care.
The typical work schedule for this position includes a commitment of at least five 24-hour OB hospitalist shifts (or equivalent hours) in each 28-day period. This ensures that the OB Hospitalist Site Director (OB/GYN) remains engaged in direct patient care while fulfilling leadership responsibilities and maintaining a thorough understanding of the clinical environment.
