The OB Hospitalist Physician, also referred to as an OB/GYN Hospitalist, plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality obstetric and gynecological care within a hospital setting. OB Hospitalist Physicians operate as integral members of a multidisciplinary clinical team, focusing on patient safety, support, and collaboration with community healthcare providers. This position offers full-time employment with a flexible shift structure, including 24-hour, 12-hour, or mixed-shift models. OB Hospitalist Physicians are primarily responsible for overseeing care in labor and delivery units, participating in daily rounds, and ensuring the highest safety standards for all patients. By serving as the Safety Officer on Labor and Delivery, the OB Hospitalist Physician ensures that every patient receives safe, evidence-based care, regardless of their primary admitting provider. The role also involves close collaboration with community physicians and midwives, providing clinical assistance and practice coverage as needed.

OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care, including contraceptive services where available.
- Provide direct patient care to high-risk obstetric patients, with access to Maternal Fetal Medicine support via telehealth as needed.
- Participate in daily Labor and Delivery board rounds, reviewing patient status and care plans.
- Serve as the designated Safety Officer in the Labor and Delivery unit to ensure optimal patient outcomes for all patients.
- Support community physicians and midwives through clinical assistance and practice coverage when requested and feasible.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certification or active candidacy in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
- Current medical license to practice medicine in the state of assignment.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build positive relationships with hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nursing staff, physicians, and other stakeholders.
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred.
