OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) - SummaryThe OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) is responsible for delivering expert obstetrical and gynecological care to a diverse patient population. The role involves direct clinical care, participation in labor and delivery rounds, and collaboration with hospital staff and community providers. The position is ideal for physicians committed to patient safety, teamwork, and continuous professional development. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing critical care to high-risk patients and contributing to the overall quality of the OB Hospitalist program.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care, including contraceptive services where applicable.
- Deliver direct patient care for high-risk patients, utilizing telemedicine resources for Maternal Fetal Medicine support as needed.
- Participate in daily Labor and Delivery board rounds to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Serve as the Safety Officer on Labor and Delivery, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety for all, regardless of primary admitting provider.
- Support community physicians and midwives by providing clinical assistance and practice coverage as requested, balancing availability and safety.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the advancement of best practices within the OB Hospitalist program.

- Board Certified or active candidate in OB/GYN.
- Valid license to practice medicine in the state of assignment.
- Proven ability to build strong, positive working relationships with hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nurses, staff physicians, and corporate staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a highly relational approach to team and patient care.
- Significant experience with obstetrical emergency care preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
- Experienced OB/GYN physician with a passion for hospital-based care and patient safety.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to evidence-based practices in women’s health.
- Excellent communicator, able to collaborate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and support staff.
- Enthusiastic about ongoing professional development and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
- Full-time position structured primarily around 24-hour shifts, with some opportunities for 12-hour or mixed-shift models.
- Typical full-time clinicians work an average of 59 (24-hour) shifts per 28-day block, providing a predictable and balanced schedule.
