OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) - Summary- Deliver direct patient care in obstetrics and gynecology within a hospital setting
- Provide high-quality care for routine and high-risk pregnancies
- Serve as a critical resource for the hospital’s labor and delivery unit
- Collaborate with community physicians, midwives, and nursing staff
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary team focused on patient safety and positive outcomes
- Deliver comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care to patients, including contraceptive services where offered
- Manage high-risk obstetrical cases, often in collaboration with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists as available
- Participate in daily Labor and Delivery board rounds to ensure coordinated patient care
- Act as the Safety Officer on the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring safety protocols and best practices are followed for all patients
- Support and assist community physicians and midwives with clinical care and practice coverage as needed and as safely available
- Maintain clear, timely, and effective communication with all members of the hospitalist team, nursing staff, and hospital leadership

- Coverage eligibility for clinicians with a shift commitment of at least 5 shifts per 28-day block
- Board Certified or active candidate in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- Current and valid medical license to practice in the state of assignment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships with physicians, hospital leadership, nurses, and other stakeholders
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care preferred
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety
- Demonstrates clinical excellence in both obstetrics and gynecology within a hospital environment
- Thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and collaborative clinical setting
- Embraces a patient-centered approach and is committed to quality improvement initiatives
- Has a strong track record of supporting colleagues, including community physicians and midwives
- Exhibits adaptability and sound judgment in high-pressure situations
- Clinicians typically work 24-hour shifts, with some 12-hour or mixed-shift models available to provide flexibility
- Full-time OB Hospitalist Physicians usually cover 5 to 9 shifts per 28-day block, depending on scheduling needs
