The OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) is responsible for delivering a wide range of clinical services, supporting community physicians and midwives, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The role requires a deep commitment to patient safety, particularly in managing high-risk pregnancies and obstetrical emergencies. The OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) will engage in daily rounds, serve as a safety officer in labor and delivery, and deliver direct patient care in both routine and complex cases. Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be adept at building rapport with multidisciplinary teams, and have the ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical environments.
This role typically involves 24-hour shifts, with some opportunities for 12-hour or mixed-shift models, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. The successful candidate for the OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) role will be a board-certified or actively pursuing certification as an Ob/Gyn physician, licensed to practice medicine in the state of assignment, and demonstrate a strong relational skill set, fostering positive working relationships with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and staff. Prior experience in managing obstetrical emergencies is highly desirable. OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) - Summary- Deliver high-quality obstetrical and gynecological care in a hospital-based setting
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Serve as a key safety officer and clinical resource in labor and delivery
- Participate in daily rounds and support community practitioners
- Provide obstetrical and gynecological care to patients, including contraceptive services where offered
- Deliver direct patient care to high-risk patients, including those requiring telehealth Maternal Fetal Medicine support
- Participate in daily labor and delivery board rounds
- Act as Safety Officer in Labor and Delivery to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Support community physicians and midwives through clinical assistance and practice coverage as needed
- Engage in shift-based work, primarily 24-hour shifts, with some 12-hour or mixed-shift models
