OB Hospitalist Physicians are essential members of the clinical team, delivering comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care within the hospital setting. You will work alongside community physicians, midwives, hospital staff, and leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety. OB Hospitalist Physicians are responsible for managing a variety of patient needs, including high-risk cases, and are expected to maintain professionalism and clinical excellence at all times.
This position offers a flexible schedule with a mix of 24-hour and 12-hour shifts, and full-time clinicians typically work a set number of shifts per month. OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) - Summary
- Provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care to patients in a hospital setting
- Support labor and delivery safety initiatives and collaborate with hospital teams
- Engage in multidisciplinary rounds and ensure best practices in patient care
- Offer clinical assistance to community physicians and midwives as needed
- Respond to high-risk and emergency obstetrical situations
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver obstetrical and gynecological care, including contraceptive services where available
- Manage direct patient care for high-risk patients, including situations with remote Maternal Fetal Medicine support
- Participate in daily Labor and Delivery board rounds to discuss patient care and safety protocols
- Serve as the Safety Officer on Labor and Delivery, ensuring optimal outcomes for all patients
- Provide clinical support and practice coverage for community physicians and midwives as requested
- Maintain clear communication with hospital leadership, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
- Stay current with best practices in obstetrical emergency care

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible OB/GYN Physician
- Active medical license to practice in the assigned hospital's state
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with hospital teams, leadership, and community partners
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred
- Commitment to upholding safety and quality standards in women's health
