OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist)

We are seeking a dedicated OB Hospitalist Physician, also known as an OB/GYN Hospitalist, to join our hospital-based obstetric and gynecologic care team. This full-time opportunity offers physicians the chance to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative hospital environment. As a core member of the OB Hospitalist team, you will play a critical role in supporting labor and delivery, managing high-risk obstetrical cases, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and care for all patients. This position is designed for board-certified or board-eligible OB/GYN physicians who are committed to excellence in clinical practice and keen on fostering positive relationships with patients, hospital staff, and community care providers.

The OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including contraceptive services where available, direct patient care to high-risk and complex cases, and participate in daily labor and delivery board rounds. As the designated Safety Officer on Labor and Delivery, you will be responsible for advocating for patient safety and quality outcomes, regardless of admitting clinician. This position also involves supporting community physicians and midwives, providing clinical assistance and practice coverage as needed to maintain seamless patient care across the hospital setting.

This role typically involves 24-hour shifts, with some 12-hour or mixed-shift models available. Full-time clinicians usually work an average of 59 (24-hour) shifts per 28-day schedule block, ensuring consistent coverage and expertise in the labor and delivery unit. The hospital offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, vision, dental, retirement plans with profit sharing and Roth options, malpractice coverage with unlimited tail coverage, and an annual CME stipend to support continued professional development. Additional support is provided for professional memberships, board certification maintenance, and licensure fees relevant to your hospitalist assignments.

To excel as an OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist), candidates must be board certified or actively pursuing board certification in obstetrics and gynecology, and possess or be eligible for a state medical license at the assigned site. Highly relational physicians who can build strong rapport with hospital leadership, clinical teams, nursing staff, and physicians will thrive in this role. Experience with obstetrical emergencies is highly preferred, as the position requires swift clinical decision-making and the ability to manage acute maternal and fetal situations—sometimes with remote support from maternal-fetal medicine specialists.

The hospital-based OB/GYN Hospitalist model provides a dynamic and rewarding environment where you can focus on delivering safe, high-quality care while benefiting from the support of a multidisciplinary team. Working as an OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in maternal and newborn outcomes while developing professionally in a supportive and progressive setting.
