OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) - Summary
The OB Hospitalist Physician (OB/GYN Hospitalist) is responsible for the comprehensive management of obstetrical and gynecological patients within the hospital. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients, supporting safety initiatives on the Labor and Delivery unit, and providing guidance and support to community physicians and midwives. The role is ideal for board-certified or board-eligible physicians who excel in teamwork, communication, and clinical expertise in obstetrical emergency care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver obstetrical and gynecological care to a broad patient population, including contraceptive services where available.
- Provide direct care to high-risk obstetric patients, working collaboratively with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists through in-person or remote consultation as needed.
- Participate actively in daily Labor and Delivery board rounds to monitor and manage patient care plans.
- Fulfill the role of Safety Officer on the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring that all patients receive the safest possible outcomes regardless of their primary admitting clinician.
- Support community physicians and midwives by offering clinical assistance and practice coverage as requested, within safe care parameters.
- Adhere to hospital protocols and participate in quality improvement initiatives to promote best practices in obstetrical care.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certified or Active Candidate in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
- Current and valid medical license in the state of assignment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships with hospital leadership, medical staff, nurses, and corporate personnel.
- Extensive experience in managing obstetrical emergencies is highly preferred.

Other Relevant Information
- Shifts are primarily 24 hours, with some 12-hour or mixed-shift models available. Full-time clinicians typically work 5-9 (24-hour) shifts per 28-day block.
