OB Hospitalist Medical Director (OB/GYN) - Summary
- Lead an OB hospitalist program focused on delivering high-quality, value-based obstetrical care.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the OB hospitalist team and hospital leadership.
- Promote a collaborative, patient-focused culture among clinicians and staff.
- Oversee program operations and ensure achievement of clinical and operational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of the OB hospitalist program to ensure consistent, quality care delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, and administrative leaders.
- Foster cooperation and positive communication within the OB hospitalist team, including physicians and certified nurse midwives (CNMs).
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Manage minor physician issues, escalating complex matters to appropriate senior clinical leaders.
- Train, mentor, and develop new clinicians to promote a value-based care culture and seamless program integration.
- Monitor clinical and operational objectives, identifying opportunities for improvement and increased utilization of labor and delivery services.
- Travel to the hospital as required to address operational needs and ensure optimal program performance.
- Facilitate clear, ongoing communication regarding program updates, policy changes, and performance metrics.
- Commit to at least five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts every 28-day period.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
- Active state medical license for the assigned hospital site.
- Demonstrated experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong rapport with physicians, nurses, hospital leadership, and support staff.
- Prior leadership experience in a hospitalist or acute care setting is strongly desired.
