We are seeking an experienced and dynamic OB Hospitalist Medical Director (OB/GYN) to lead our hospital-based obstetric (OB) clinical team. In this leadership role, you will play a critical part in delivering a high-quality, value-based OB Hospitalist program. As the site director, you will oversee program operations, foster collaborative relationships, and ensure that clinical and operational goals are consistently met. As the OB Hospitalist Medical Director (OB/GYN), you will work closely with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, and administrative leadership to maintain and enhance program quality. Reporting to the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations, you will collaborate on strategic initiatives that promote best practices in labor and delivery. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring our clinical team delivers optimal outcomes for patients and the hospital alike.
In this position, you will be responsible for training and developing new clinicians, communicating and enforcing clinical policies, and resolving physician-related issues as needed. The OB Hospitalist Medical Director (OB/GYN) is expected to be present on-site as necessary to address operational priorities, ensuring seamless, patient-centered care. Additionally, you will partner with hospital leadership to identify opportunities for increased utilization and efficiency in labor and delivery services.
This full-time role includes a clinical commitment of at least five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts every 28-day period, allowing you to remain actively engaged in patient care while executing your leadership responsibilities. OB Hospitalist Medical Director (OB/GYN) - Summary
- Lead and oversee the OB Hospitalist clinical team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, value-based obstetric care.
- Work collaboratively with hospital leadership, staff physicians, nurses, and corporate teams to achieve clinical and operational objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the hospitalist team and hospital administration.
- Maintain and enhance program operations in alignment with organizational mission and standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of the OB Hospitalist program to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with hospital medical and nursing staff, as well as administrative leadership.
- Maintain strong communication and support for the physician and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) OB Hospitalist team.
- Report to and collaborate with Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations.
- Travel to the hospital as needed for operational priorities and program oversight.
- Train and mentor new clinicians in a value-based care environment.
- Enforce clinical policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Manage minor physician issues and escalate matters as appropriate to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to identify and implement strategies for increasing labor and delivery utilization.
- Fulfill a minimum of five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts within each 28-day period.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board-certified OB/GYN physician (MD or DO).
- Licensed to practice medicine in the relevant state.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong rapport and positive working relationships with hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nurses, staff physicians, and corporate staff.
- Experience in obstetrical emergency care preferred.
