OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director) - Summary
- Lead, manage, and support the OB hospitalist program to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, value-based obstetric care.
- Serve as the key liaison between medical, nursing, and administrative leadership, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational goals.
- Act as a mentor and resource for OB hospitalist clinicians, promoting professional growth and adherence to best practices.
- Maintain a collaborative, team-oriented environment that prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee program operations to guarantee delivery of quality obstetric care in alignment with organizational standards.
- Build and maintain positive, effective working relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing staff, and administrative leadership.
- Foster strong rapport with the physician and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) OB hospitalist team.
- Report directly to the Market Medical Director (MMD), Medical Director of Operations (MDO), or Vice President of Clinical Operations (VPCO).
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to implement and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations for all team members.
- Train, mentor, and develop new clinicians, promoting a culture rooted in value-based care and continuous improvement.
- Address and help resolve minor physician issues, escalating complex matters to senior leadership as appropriate.
- Regularly travel to the hospital as needed to address operational priorities and engage with hospital stakeholders.
- Identify and implement strategies to optimize labor and delivery service utilization in collaboration with hospital leadership.
- Participate in at least five (5) 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts in each 28-day period, providing direct patient care.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
- Active medical license to practice as a physician at the assigned site.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and corporate staff.
- Experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred and highly valued.
